GoVols247 Podcast: Quarterback trades, more portal madness

Apr 22, 9:32 PM

Looking for discussion on Tennessee and UCLA swapping quarterbacks and other madness from the transfer portal?

There’s a GoVols247 Podcast for that.

GoVols247’s Patrick Brown (from an undisclosed location) and Ryan Callahan (from his home daycare center) convened via the magic of The Internets to discuss Tennessee and UCLA doing a quarterback exchange of Joey Aguilar for Nico Iamaleava, and other wild news from the never-dull transfer portal?

Iamaleava’s shocking exit from Tennessee the day before the Vols’ spring game obviously threw a wrench into the things, and things got even weirder when Iamaleava went back to his native Los Angeles and committed to UCLA. That was an awkward situation for Aguilar, who transferred from Appalachian State to UCLA in January and expected to be the Bruins’ starting quarterback. Obviously that wasn’t going to be the case with Iamaleava in the mix, so Aguilar went back into the portal and quickly committed to Tennessee.

Obviously it’s a new era in college football, but essentially exchanging starting quarterbacks has to be a first.

Portal madness remained the topic of conversation in the second segment of this episode, as well. It’s many things. It’s not boring, though.

The next GoVols247 Podcast will be released Thursday, unless big breaking news occurs before that point.
